Curtain rod guides
Ceiling or wall curtain rod — how to choose
Mounting type is the first and most important decision — it sets how the curtain falls, how tall the room looks, and which brackets you need.
When ceiling mounting wins
A ceiling-mounted rod drops the curtain from the ceiling to the floor and visually raises the room. Ideal for low ceilings, panoramic windows, and when there is little space between window and ceiling.
It also keeps the curtain close to the wall — ceiling mounting gives a minimal projection.
When wall mounting wins
A wall rod fixes above the window and is more flexible when the ceiling is sloped, plasterboard, or you do not want to drill it.
Wall mounting lets you extend the rod wider than the window so an open curtain does not block light.
What to check
Curtain weight — heavier fabric needs a thicker tube and more brackets.
Ceiling material — concrete, plasterboard or wood decides the bracket type.
Window width — the rod should extend 15–20 cm past each side of the window.
FAQ
Does a ceiling rod make the room look taller?
Yes. The curtain falls from ceiling to floor and the ceiling reads higher — one of the best tricks for low ceilings.
Can I ceiling-mount on plasterboard?
Yes, with the right anchor, but for heavy curtains wall mounting is more reliable. Match the bracket to the ceiling material.
